Many clients are surprised to hear that there may be significant drawbacks to using their mental health benefits through their insurance plan. We believe it is important that our clients are aware that by not using your insurance, you can greatly increase your privacy and protect your medical record from holding pre-existing conditions. Insurance companies require a "Mental Health Diagnosis" which becomes part of your permanent medical record.  It is unclear how much this may impact your medical record and obtaining insurance in the future.  This may include difficulties with life insurance, health insurance, and disability insurance.   By not using your insurance, you can determine which therapist you wish to see and how long you wish to be in treatment.

If after considering the above information you still wish to use your insurance, counseling may be covered in part if you have a PPO insurance plan. In such cases, we would provide you with a billing statement (after payment for services is made to Stoneridge Counseling Services). You would then submit that claim to your insurance carrier for partial reimbursement. You can check your coverage by calling your insurer and asking the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
  • Does my insurance allow for "out of network" provider?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

Cash, check and most major credit cards accepted for payment.
